The Ovarian Care Fund was created in 2017 to provide extra support for research into advanced ovarian cancer.

Through the fund, we are supporting ground-breaking research, which is being carried out by expert laboratory teams. We invited some of our Ovarian Care Fund supporters to take a tour of the lab and see for themselves the direct impact their generosity is having.

Supporters were welcomed by Gynaecology Oncology Consultant, Professor Christina Fotopoulou who helped establish the fund in 2017. Professor Fotopoulou is a leader in her field, and her work has benefitted patients not only across the UK, but worldwide.

Our event was designed to not only give fund patrons the opportunity to see this important research first-hand, it also allowed them the chance for a reunion with Professor Fotopoulou, with whom many have have shared a personal relationship with as a result of their own ovarian cancer journeys.

Supporters were shown around the lab where the pioneering research into ovarian cancer takes place with Dr Paula Cunnea and her team. Dr Cunnea moved to London 12 years ago to work in research at Imperial College London, and her work puts her in close collaboration not only with the Trust, but also with other international teams researching ovarian cancer, and with Professor Fotopoulou.

The tour demonstrated to these generous supporters that this important work wouldn’t be possible without their donations, which have reached more than half a million pounds since it’s creation.

If you’d like to support our important work in this area, you can make a donation to the Ovarian Care Fund here.
