Corporate volunteers refresh staff garden at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital
01 October 2024
Volunteers from Capital Group beamed through wet weather to help revitalise a staff garden at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital.A forgotten area where hospital staff lock their bikes and take essential rest breaks had become neglected and run down.
Plants needed pruning, benches required a lick of paint, and the space needed some general love.
Capital Group initially supported our hospitals with a generous donation at the beginning of the year. When they shared their interest in getting hands-on to make a difference we were only too happy to take them up on the offer.
The fantastic Beth and Dario from Dario Pizzi Design Ltd ran the day and have a special connection with the Trust, having worked on several projects, including the Sanctuary Garden at Charing Cross Hospital.
The duo feel passionate about staff, patients and visitors being able to access beautiful outside spaces in healthcare settings.
Beth and Dario spent time with each volunteer, explaining how to achieve the best gardening techniques, which some volunteers vowed to take home their own plants.
Volunteers also helped clean up the children’s playground next to the Maternity Assessment Unit, removing moss from the floor and washing the play equipment.
Thanks to the hard work of the team at Capital Group the space is once again fresh, airy, and ready for staff to relax, eat, and take well-deserved breaks.
