Imperial Health Charity has partnered with ASDAN to support participants within our Youth Volunteering Programme. This allows you to reflect on the volunteering that you undertake and recognise the skills that you gain from volunteering.
The ASDAN accreditation is built into the Youth Volunteering Programme as an easy way to capture, record and recognise the volunteering that you do within our hospitals. There are challenges to help you plan and review your volunteering within the hospitals through activity logs and reflect on what you gain from this experience and how you can use the skills developed.
The programme is split into three modules:
Getting ready to volunteer: You are starting out on your volunteering experience with us, this part helps you to start to think about volunteering, what’s involved when volunteering, types of skills that you might require for your role and how you will gain the most from this experience
Your volunteering experience: This is the opportunity to reflect on your volunteering experience, record the types of things that you have been involved in, what you most enjoyed, any challenges and what you have gained from volunteering with us.
Making the most of volunteering: You are now at the end of the volunteering experience and this is the time for you to reflect on volunteering with us. This is a chance for you to start thinking about the future and how you use the skills you have gained and what your next volunteering experience will be.
When you join the Youth Volunteering Programme, you will be asked to express an interest in undertaking the award. Once you have been selected for the Programme, we will then get you signed up, registered and issued with an award handbook.
You will be supported through this by the centre co-ordinator as you progress with the volunteering and award. Once you have completed the award, you will be given the chance to be formally presented with the award and celebrate your volunteering experience.
