By leaving a gift to Imperial College Healthcare Charity in your will, you can help the charity continue to improve healthcare in the trust and across the NHS. It may be a way of saying thank you for the care and treatment you or a loved one has received, or simply because you want to make a difference to patients and hospital staff in the future. We support all five of the hospitals in Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, so you can make your gift to a specific hospital or department, or leave it to us to use the money where the need is greatest.
Our aim is to make healthcare better. As a charity, we support medical research and improvements to patient care at our hospitals beyond that which can be achieved by NHS funding alone. You can read about how we have been making a difference here.
We recommend you contact a solicitor about making a will. Your solicitor can also help you make a small change (a codicil) to an existing will. There are different types of legacies, so discuss this with your solicitor who can best advise you on which to choose.
Once you have ensured your family and any outstanding administration has been covered, you may wish to leave what is left of your estate to the charity.
A gift of a specified sum of money, you can arrange for it to be 'index-linked' so that its value does not get eaten away by inflation over the years.
Sometimes people wish to leave the charity a specific asset from their estate, such as a collection of artworks or the proceeds from the sale of a house.
In all cases, your solicitor will need our name, Imperial College Healthcare Charity, and our registered charity number, 1128929.
Please tell us if you have decided to leave us a gift in your will so we can thank you and keep you up to date with how we are using legacy income to help the trust hospitals.
Making a donation that will help us continue to improve the care given to patients in the future is a lovely way to honour the loss of a loved one. By helping fund to fund pioneering studies and research, the memory of your loved one will benefit countless others.
There are a number of ways to pay tribute:
Instead of giving flowers at a funeral, ask friends and relations to make a donation to Imperial College Healthcare Charity. Funeral directors can arrange this for you, or you can send donations directly to us.
Set up an online tribute page on JustGiving and have this as a place where family and friends can leave their messages of sympathy.
If you would like to set up a lasting memorial, a Tribute Fund can be named after the person who has died. With consent from next of kin, the Fund can be set up with a donation and added to by friends or family. You may wish to mark special days such as anniversaries or birthdays by increasing the Fund through donations or fundraising.
